1st DAY (Saturday) : Our flight was 10.30am from klia2 to Perth and we reached there at 3.30pm. Once we touched down we bought mobile data package for Aud 10 (600MB, 7 days validity) from the Vodafone telco. For heavy data user, we would recommend mobile data package for AUD 10 (500MB renew everyday at AUD 2, 10 days validity) from the Optus telco.
Then we took the bus route 380 to Perth city. It costs only AUD 4.50 per person to Perth city from the airport. We stopped at Plain st station in Adelaine st and walked 5 mins to our Airbnb room in Hay st. It is a great room with strategic location, great facilities, reasonable price (At around RM176 per night) and friendly host. In total, 5 nights it cost only RM844. The link to the Airbnb hosting (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/11288178).
We arrived at our apartment around 5pm. Then we went out to buy some food. There are many grocery shops walking distance away. Most of the shops in Perth city have opening hours until 5 to 6pm. Fortunately we found one of the grocery shops nearby our apartment open until 8pm, so we bought some food and cooked at home.
After dinner, we relaxed and read the brochures provided by the host to get some information about the destination we are going the next day. The free CAT bus and bus route 380 timetable are very useful!!!
2nd DAY (Sunday): We went to Fremantle and Kings park. We took a train to Fremantle. From Perth to fremantle cost AUD 4.50 per person for one way. We decided to buy the family package which is cheaper, 2 adults cost only AUD12 for the whole day. If we buy standard two ways ticket to Fremantle it will cost AUD 4.50 x 2 x 2 = AUD18 for 2 adults.
Thanks God on that Sunday we attended a church service in Fremantal Wesley church from 9.30am to around 11am. After the service we were invited to have tea and coffee in the church cafe. Then we went to roundhouse and walk beside the beach. Next, we taken our fish and chips as lunch at the overrated Kallis fish market. The food was fine but it is pricey.
After lunch we continue our walk to Fremantle market. We bought some fruits there. Then we took the free blue CAT bus and tour around Fremantle. We stopped at B Shed station, we bought some souvenirs there because the price is cheaper compared with other places.
After that we took our train back to Perth city. We missed the stop at Cottesloe station as we planned to drop by at the picturesque Cottesloe beach. Hence, we continue our trip to King's park. We followed google map to "kings park and botanical garden" but we were lost in the middle of the King's park botanical garden, we were surrounded by trees in the middle of nowhere, and it was already 5pm, the night was falling, we were a bit scared in the jungle, thanks God we found the road plate which guide us to the right location of king park. So, our suggestion for those who use google map to King's park is that they must search "king's park", not "king park and botanical garden".
The night view of king park was superb and scenic. After enjoyed the night view, we managed to take the bus route 37, which is free for those going back to Perth city. We really thanks God for this bus, or else, we would have to take a cab back to the city. We arrived at our apartment safely and cooked lamb chop as our dinner.
3rd DAY(monday): We went to Perth city.We planned to buy the mystery tour from Blue travel company which is cheaper at a price of AUD120, but the risk is if there is no empty seat left then we can't follow the tour to the Pinnacle. We waited for quite some time in front the shop but it remained closed. After asking a girl who work in 7/11 only we knew that it was the Queen's birthday, a public holiday.
We were anxious as we did not manage to buy the tour to Pinnacle. A friend of us told us that he bought a magical tour to Pinnacle at YHA Youth hostel with AUD155, so we decided to go YHA and check whether there is empty seat for the magical tour to Pinnacle. Unfortunately, the magical only left with one seat. So we can't join the magical tour. Thank God we met with a friendly staff who helped us to find another tour to Pinnacle which is of a small group organized by AUSSIE WANDERER, and it cost AUD150 per person. The tour included Caversham wildlife park, Pinnacle and sandboarding at Lancelin sand dunes. This was the destination that we want to go the most. So we booked the tour. It was a very good tour because in the wildlife park we can feed the Kangaroo and touch the Koala. It is better then magical tour that can only see the animal in natural environment, can't have close encounter with wildlife.
After that, we walked around the city and went to WA day (queen birthday celebration) at Elizabeth
Quay near the swan bell. There was so many peoples and activities. We get free photo and free popcorn.
Then we went TAKA to enjoy our lunch, the japanese food was cheap, cost around AUD 6 to 10. Next we went to Woolworth market to buy some meat and souvenir. Then we took the blue CAT bus and tour around the city, after that we took the red CAT bus to stop no 29 and back our apartment to enjoy our dinner.
4th DAY(Tuesday) Rottnest island. We chose to go Rottnest island on Tuesday because of telethon tuesday and the ferry ticket is cheaper. We bought the ticket depart from Barrack st near the Perth city for only AUD59, the ticket from Fremantle cost only AUD39.(normal price to Rottnest island is around AUD74) We had booked the ticket online before we went to Perth. We departed from the Barrack street and enjoyed the cruise along the Swan river, on the way we saw dolphin and nice scenery.
The cruise stopped at Fremantle and we changed to another ferry to Rottnest island. The weather is not too good, so it was like sitting on a roller coaster. At Rottnest island we decided to buy bus ticket which cost AUD20 per person. We chose to stop at stop no 3, 8 (lighthouse) and 11 (seal). The weather was really bad, extremely cold but the scenery was really amazing. We went back to jetty at around 4pm and took picture with the Quokka (the cute big rat).
We reached back to Perth city at 6pm and we took CAT back to our apartment.
At Caversham Wildlife park, we were guided by a friendly tour guide. We had the chance to feed the animal and took a lot of photos. Next we went to Pinnacle, this place was cool and impressive. Then we enjoyed sandboarding at Lancelin and it was one of the best part of the tour. It was really fun and exciting. We reached back to Perth at around 6.30pm.
6th DAY (Thursday)Perth city. We walked around the city and visited the Perth museum, art center, library, Northbridge and London court. Then we went to woolworth supermarket the second time to buy fruits, cheese, biscuit and chocolate to bring back to Malaysia.
We checked out at 1pm from our apartment and walked to the bus stop near our house (opposite the station we stop on the first day), and took bus route 380 to airport Terminal 1. Then at 4.40pm we took our flight back to Malaysia, at reached Klia2 at 10.35pm.
The total expenses per person is around RM2400.
Flight RM850,
accommodation RM422,
Pinnacle tour rRM450,
Rottnest island ferry + bus RM240,
train and bus RM45,
food , phone and souvenir RM400.
